What is a Boltdog Booster?
We are Eliza Blaker 55's parent and teacher organization, fostering an inclusive, collaborative community that enriches and supports the students, staff, and families of Butler Lab School 55. There are lots of ways to get involved; check out the current opportunities!
Boltdog Boosters Membership
All parents, guardians, or other persons with a student enrolled and attending Butler Lab 55, any Principals and Assistant Principals, any FACE Liaison, and any other members of the Butler Lab 55 staff who attend and sign into at least one booster club meeting shall be considered voting members of the organization.

Our Community
Boltdog Boosters raise money to support activities that loosely fall into five categories:

Attend a Meeting
Family Conferences
Family Conferences
Families and teachers meet for Student Progress Conferences twice a year during the school day (see district calendar). This is an important time for us to connect on academic and social growth we see at school and at home. We believe families are essential partners in figuring out what works best for each child. We also love to share stories, project work, and take time to notice the special qualities of every child.
Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences
Spring Student-Led Conferences
- Students lead families through conferences in which families sign-up to come within an hour time-frame
- Student shares their portfolio with current data and student work.
- Student shares their growth, areas for improvement, and may demonstrate reading, writing, or math games to do at home.
- Families can ask any questions!

Boltdog Block Party
Our Boltdog Block Party is our annual fall family event! This event is a great time to get to know others our school community and participate in free, fun events!
Open Studio Night
Our Open Studio Nights each fall give our families the opportunity to come participate alongside their students in activities that reflect their weekly studio time!
Family Game Night
Family Game Night is a long standing family event, started by Butler Lab School 60. Playing games with your family is a great way to build academic and social skills! Catch a game of Bingo in the gym to support our annual Yearbook fundraiser.
Night of 100 Languages
Night of 100 Languages provides families a chance to explore the 100 languages throughout our classrooms, with hands on experiences in every classroom. This dearly loved event is our most attended family event of the year.
Family Visits
Family Visits
We value authentic relationships with all of our families. One of the ways we begin forming these relationships is through family visits. Each summer, Lab School teachers visit all of their students. To accommodate the diverse family needs in our district, we offer different ways to visit – at a family’s home, at a public library, a park, the Lab School, or another alternate location. The purpose of these visits is to connect before school begins. We ask questions to learn about the child, and we remember what we learn so that we can use that information to make that child known and valued from the start of the school year. Family visits are an incredibly important part of our school culture that has deepened our relationships with the children and families.
Volunteering
Volunteering
Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) values strong relationships with parents and the community. School volunteers bring valuable skills and experiences that enhance students’ learning opportunities. The following guidelines are provided to ensure student safety and the productivity of volunteer efforts.
Before initiating your volunteer journey, it is crucial to connect with the administration at the specific site where you wish to contribute. This will help you identify the most suitable volunteer opportunities. If your application is submitted and approved, IPS Human Resources will determine your Tier level and guide you through the next steps.
Open windows for submitting a volunteer application are as follows:
Application window is now OPEN
- July through September annually
- December through February annually
NOTE: Volunteers are responsible for any application fees (including background checks). If a financial or technical obstacle, or language barrier prevents completion of the application or background check, please contact the school where you are trying to volunteer. Financial aid assistance for background checks is available, but is dependent upon building-level resources.
